My girlfriend broke up with me, what do I do?

I met her about five years ago. I thought she was an angel. I got to know her after a while. We went to the same martial arts school that I did. One day she found out how I felt and we started to date. But since I'm in the military, I had to move, that was about two years after. She broke up with me because she didn't think it was going to work. That was my first girlfriend. I cried. I still loved her, even though I couldn't see her, I stayed best friends with her and never loved since. She then got back with me a while later because I moved back into state. She once again found that "it wouldn't work," so she broke my heart. I came to visit again because I'm moving again. I went to her house. For some reason, she started to hold my hands like she used to, she kissed me. But then then just today, she said she only saw me as a best friend and that when she kissed me she felt good because of how she used to love me, but wrong because I am her best friend. I still love her. What do I do?

Reply:You sound like such a wonderful guy. anyone who would keep taking a girl back that keeps breaking up with him and still loves he, has to be a real keeper. too bad she doesn't see that. there are so many nice girls out there that would really appreciate you and treat you like you deserve. I realize that you love this other girl, but for your own self worth I think you should try to get over her so she doesn't keep breaking your heart. sure, it won't happen over night, but if you cut all ties, it will happen sooner.I hope you are not angry that I suggested that, but you sound like a man that has a big heart and there aren't many like you around any more. I'm sort of in the same situation. I broke up with my boyfriend after living together for 5 yrs. he started treating me real bad, and I treated him like a God. so I finally left him for good and I don't regret it now. I deserve much better and I won't settle for anything less. One last thing, please keep your heart and self esteem protected and don't let anyone hurt you anymore, okay?
