There are a couple of kids in my martial arts school and I'm looking for a few creative exercise ideas that will be also fun and beneficial to them..They are around 10 years old.Any ideas?
Exercise ideas for kids?
what seems to work best at our school is 'circle tag'...kids LOVE this game...
basically have them all stand in a circle, and one person is 'it' and chases another person (you choose the first 2 people) and they play 'tag' basically, BUT the twist is is that if you are being chased, you can stand in front of someone who is in the circle, and that person becomes the 'chased'
and then to make sure they know it will benefit their martial arts skills, tell them that the dodging and fast moving will help in their sparring.
Reply:running a ton
Reply:make them do 30 push ups and 50 sit ups and 100 jumping jacks and then top it off with a couple of marshmallow throwing contests
Reply:kick ball
Reply:Good question
I would say stretching everyday. Its important for them to strectch before they start your class
And also, tell them to do 20 pushups a day(Or however many you want them to do)and 20(or however many you want them to do)situps.
Reply:You could always have them do a leap frog type game with flying side kicks. :) This is probably why I don't teach kids.
Reply:Actually....for fun, I'd just make them dance around. In capoeira, all the kids are always having fun because they are also dancing while they fight. They do flips, cartwheels and always get on their hands.
You could probably just make them do some capoeira or run around like a monkey.
Reply:stretching, jogging, running and jumping jacks! they love that.
