I want to get into UFC like martial arts, but I don't know where to start., any suggestions?

I was a very good athlete in high school in such sports as Football, Track and tried wrestling my senior year but they wouldn't teach me. The Ultimate Fighting seems to appeal to me and be something I could you to get back to top of the game shape. I restarted Tae Kwon Do several years ago then had a back injury which has left me with some flexiability issues, but nothing too serious.

theres alot of mma gyms around that will teach you the more popular styles used in mma: thai boxing, boxing, judo, wrestling, and brazilian jiujitsu. many times you pay a monthly price for one style or you can go to all the classes for a lil more money. for example at my gym thai boxing/boxing alone is $90 per month, you can go to unlimited amount of (boxing) classes per month theres about 7 2hrs classes per week then for $30 more you can have full access and go to unlimited amount of [thai]boxing classes, brazilian juijitsu, and mma(vale tudo) classes

i've been to 3 different gyms and all of em are set up something like that

anyways go to www.local.yahoo.com and enter in any of the styles i listed above and your area code and im sure you'll find something, try it out and pick whatever gym you like the most
Reply:Find a Juijitsu school near you. Juijitsu is a form of ground fighting that is one of the major forms used in UFC, Pride Fighting, and any other like fighting matches, more than likely they will train in MMA (mixed martial arts) too.
Reply:the most common concensus is muay thai, wrestling, jiiujitsu, boxing. Train in those and you will be a very complete fighter
Reply:you want to find a nice MMA academy with a nice blend of wrestling, muay thai, JuJitsu, and boxing. This will give you a nice well rounded foundation.

Not going to happen overnight. there are guys who have trained years before even taking one match.
Reply:It's best to start at the beginning.
Reply:Start with an examination of your motives. Why do you want to do this? If you are anything less than totally committed, you will not do well. Further, as a form of athletics goes, this is not a highly paid one, nor is it one that keeps you in good condition for the rest of your life. It will be blood, sweat and tears for low money and aches and pains that you'll have for the rest of your life.

That's not to say you shouldn't do it. But you should know your reasons inside out first.
