Does your martial arts school incorporate meditation and do you find it hard to meditate for more than 30 sec?

Depends on what you mean by meditation. At the beginning and end of each class we sit in "seiza", and close our eyes for some period of time. The point at the beginning of class is supposed to be to clear your mind of any outside influences, and get ready to focus your entire being on training. At the end it's to clear your mind, but this time to get yourself ready to go back to the world and your life. I don't know if this counts, but if it does, we rarely do it for more than 30-45 seconds. That's probably mainly because it's a class of mostly kids, ages ranging from 6 to 21, and most of the younger ones can't keep themselves still for that long, but on the few occasions we do stay in seiza for more than a few seconds, the older ones of us are fine and able to hold it.

yes and no
Reply:no you have to really find the spot with in. concentrate, don't give up it will get longer
Reply:yeah I Meditated when I took martial arts and it's meant to relax the body so the longer u do it the easier it is to do and stay in typically. dont forget to open your mind to nothinness, Forget everything and just focus on nothin a blank sleight.
Reply:Yes, and meditation is pleasurable and has many benefits......learn patience
Reply:During meditation I forget about the length of time. I use the meditation to clear my mind of the day's stresses and have a clear mind to focus on the lesson ahead. ALWAYS STRIVE FOR MAXIMUM EFFECTIVENESS.
Reply:Meditation is a key part of martial arts and should never be overlooked. It is the link which developes and brings understanding of the mind, body, and spirit and their link. Martial arts without meditation is like a boat with no oars - you can float in it, but it will never take you where you wish to be. Generally, I meditate for around 10 minutes at least. Other times I'll do so with a mala.
Reply:We don't actually meditate, but after our warm up, I have everyone sit in a circle, and I give them a three minute Bible lesson. It helps them return their heart rates back to normal, and it puts why we are there fresh in their minds.
