i can't afford to go on a martil arts school so i'm trying as much as i can to learn from the net

but why Aikido?
Reply:I'll have to admit that I don't have a lot of experience with this, but I would think that Aikido is one of the hardest styles to learn by mail since most of the techniques require the use of a partner. You also have to learn how to fall properly, which I think you need someone watching over you to ensure you don't get hurt.





However, I'm sure if you check some of the major MA supply websites like AWMA.com you can find some instructional videos.

Reply:Bad training is worse than no training.





Learning from the net IS ALWAYS bad training.





the role of a teacher is to correct you, you don't have that on the net and you will not get it right the first time. There are always intricacies that are missed.





AND akido is a style that is suspect (because most teachers don't teach against fully resisting partners) anyway. Throw in the net and I'd say that you have a better shot at group sex with the olsen twins, elizabeth hurley and jenna jameson than you do to learn aikido from the net.

Aikido is a method that requires training with the feedback of a partner (and preferably a good instructor). Like other "internal" methods, there is an aspect of feeling that you have to be guided to in order to learn the techniques. Some of them, you can't just see them performed in pictures or in video, you have to feel them in order to truly learn them.





I would offer any info. I can to you for free, but the net just isn't where you will learn (REALLY LEARN) such a subject.
Reply:about the only way that you will be able to learn from the net is to take the style of martial arts first. that way once you do start learning from the net you will know what the instructors are talking about when they do and say certain things, such as the body stance, placement of the hands on the other person. things of that nature. VS you not taking any real classes then you watch and try to learn from the net. when you try and do a technique it will not work because you really dont know the right way to effectively apply the technique. if that makes any sense.
